Peter OPLEY/HOPLEY

He was tried at Maidstone, Kent on 14 March 1786 for stealing clothing with a value of 9 shillings. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Alexander aged about 19 at that time (May 1787). His occupation was listed as butcher.He left NSW in 1796.

Notes: Described as Jewish.Sentenced on 30 April 1788 to 100 lashes for theft, received 100 lashes on 16 January 1789 for being absent from work.
